    ALLIANCE, Ohio – Alliance police arrested 5 Alliance High School students Wednesday after the students were overheard planning a “shooting incident.” The students, all freshman, were overheard by other students talking about what sounded to be like plans to conduct a shooting inside the school.     JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink is holding a press conference to address the continuing investigation into the student who fatally shot himself inside a school. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s office has released the name of the student who shot himself inside Jackson Middle School Tuesday. 13-year-old Keith Simons of Jackson Township died Wednesday, February 21 at Children’s Medical Center in Akron.     EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio – An East Cleveland bank was robbed at gunpoint just after 10:30 Tuesday morning. The FBI says that three black males arrived at the bank in a black Honda Accord, which turned out to have been carjacked from Euclid earlier in the week. Two of the suspects came into the bank.   • Video captures the moment prisoner slips cuffs, escapes from police department

    BROOKLYN, Ohio – Surveillance video captured the moment that a prisoner was able to escape from the Brooklyn Police Department on Sunday. James Hlvasa slipped out of a wrist cuff that was attached to a bench inside the police station. He ran out a door and got away through a nearby field. As of Tuesday, Hlvasa was still not in custody. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact Brooklyn police.

    CLEVELAND – One person is dead after a shooting on Cleveland’s east side Monday afternoon. Cleveland homicide detectives were called to Magnolia Avenue, where they found a male victim of a gunshot wound inside of a vehicle.     BROOKLYN, Ohio – Brooklyn police are searching for a suspect who escaped from their custody Sunday afternoon. Police tell Fox 8 that the suspect had been arrested for shoplifting at Home Depot. The crime itself is only a misdemeanor, but the man did have some other warrants out for other thefts, drugs and for failure to appear in court.   • Fire department discovers body in burning rubbish on Cleveland’s east side

    CLEVELAND – Fire department personnel responding to a report of an outdoor fire discovered a body Saturday evening. According to  Cleveland Fire Department Spokesman Mike Norman, the department responded to what was initially thought to be an open fire in the 9100 block of Laisy Avenue in the driveway of a vacant home.   • Suspect in shooting death of Akron 4-year-old in custody

    AKRON, Ohio – The US Marshal for Cleveland has told Fox 8 that the suspect in the shooting and killing of a four-year-old girl in Akron Friday night is in custody. Darnell L. Bitting, 31, of Akron, faces charges of murder and weapons under disability. The arrest came after authorities searched a vehicle owned by an associate of Bitting’s on Saturday.
