UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio-- Police in University Heights and Cleveland Heights are searching for suspects in a pair of armed robberies targeting residents in their driveways.
One incident happened at about 9 p.m. on Tuesday on Charney Road near Hillbrook Road.
Police said a 30-year-old woman was confronted in her driveway and held up. The two suspects demanded money and electronics, but did not harm the victim.
According to police, she was likely followed home by the two men. They fled in an older, maroon sedan.
Investigators are aware of a similar robbery at a home on Princeton Road in Cleveland Heights. In this case, the victim told police two hooded suspects approached his vehicle after he pulled into his driveway, according to an incident report.
He said one man tapped a gun on the passenger side window while another on the driver’s side said, “Let’s not make this harder than it has to be,” and demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone, according to the report. Neighbors said crime in the area is unusual.
The University Heights Police Department said people need to remember to lock their doors, not leave valuables in their cars and call police to report suspicious activity. Police also said continue driving to somewhere safe if you think you’re being followed to your home.
