AKRON, Ohio– The man accused in the brutal beating death of his elderly mother has been arrested, Akron police have confirmed to Fox 8 News.
Derrick Williams, 47, was taken into custody at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the same home on Hartford Avenue, where his 78-year-old mother, Alaine Williams, was found unresponsive on her kitchen floor on Thursday.
Akron police on Friday said detectives had signed a murder warrant for Williams before his arrest.
Alaine Williams suffered blunt force trauma to her head, police said. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on Friday.
Derrick Williams is being held in Summit County Jail.
