79-year-old’s purse stolen while she waited for communion at church in Green

GREEN, Ohio– The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman’s purse was stolen from her church.

It happened at the Queen of Heaven Church on Steese Road in Green at about 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 8.

The sheriff’s office said the 79-year-old victim left her purse in the pew while she waited in line for communion. A man and a woman took the bag, and the theft was caught on surveillance cameras.

The pair got away in a black car, believed to be a late-model Kia Optima.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects used the victim’s credit cards at Acme and Dollar General, spending more than $1,000. Surveillance video showed the suspects and their car at the Acme store.
