LAKE COUNTY, OH – On Thursday, December 8th, nearly 50 cars were involved in a massive chain-reaction crash on the icy roads in Lake County.

The crash started when a vehicle stopped in the eastbound lanes at Vrooman Road late in the morning.

There was a chain reaction from there, with several vehicles rear-ending each other and other cars trying to avoid the crashes, ending up in the wrong lanes.

The highway itself didn’t fully reopen until Friday. The Lake County Sheriff Office said at least 19 people were injured from the 50-vehicle pile-up, 5 of them seriously.

On Sunday, the Ohio State Patrol in Chardon released aerial photos of the pile-up. From the angle of the pictures, all those vehicles look just like toys thrown on the floor somewhere.
