WINDSOR TOWNSHIP Ohio -- One person is dead and another is injured after a car accident in Ashtabula County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed to Fox 8 News.

It happened at around 7:45 a.m. on Route 322, near milemarker 1, just before the Ashtabula/Geauga county line.

According to the OSHP,  a man driving a van lost control on the icy road, crossed the center line, and into the path of a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.  After the collision, rescue crews had to cut the roof off of the pickup truck to rescue the driver.  That person was taken to Geauga County Hospital with serious injuries.  Their condition is currently unknown.

The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene, officials confirmed to Fox 8 News.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, the OSHP reported.
