Olive Garden responds after comedian asked to leave Parma restaurant

PARMA, Ohio-- A man says he was asked to leave the Olive Garden restaurant in Parma after requesting for a new waitress.

Ricky Smith, the founder of Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere, posted about the entire ordeal on Twitter Tuesday night. According to Smith, the waitress said she didn't like serving black people. She was also black.

Smith, a comedian, still had a sense of humor over the situation.

Olive Garden senior director of communications Rich Jeffers released the following statement:

"Our number one goal is to create a welcoming environment for every one of our guests each day. We take these allegations seriously, and discrimination of any sort will not be tolerated in our restaurants.

"Olive Garden’s executive vice president of Operations has reached out to Mr. Smith to personally apologize and invite him back to our restaurant to make things right. The employees involved have been placed on leave pending the outcome of our investigation."
