Man fatally shot on Interstate 90 identified

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A man who was shot while driving on Interstate 90 near Dead Man's Curve in Cleveland on Friday evening has been identified, officials confirmed to Fox 8 News.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office reports the victim as being 24-year-old Jamel Greene, of Cleveland.

Police say Greene was driving on I-90 westbound at around 4:45 p.m. Friday , when someone in a Jeep drove up to his car, fired shots, then sped away.

Greene lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole on North Marginal Road, against a fence bordering Burke Lakefront Airport.

Officials said Greene was rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he later died.  He had been shot in the chest.

Greene's 26-year-old passenger was uninjured.

The case is now being investigated as a homicide.  Anyone with information is urged to call the Cleveland Police Department.
