CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland police are still looking for the suspect who shot and killed a store owner during a robbery Monday night.
It happened at just before 7 p.m. at Kwick Food Mart, 3646 E. 116th St. The victim has been identified as Marwan Zahriyeh, 44, of North Olmsted.
Police say the suspect entered the store and pointed a gun at Zahriyeh, demanding money. The victim tried to slap the gun away and the suspect fired, hitting the victim in the chest.
The suspect then fled the store.
When officers arrived, they performed first aid on Zahriyeh before he was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Zahriyeh was the father of six young children.
Family members were at the business after the shooting Monday night, but they were too distraught to talk.
The gunman is described as being black and was wearing gray sweatpants, a blue hoodie and yellow shoes.
A customer told Fox 8 that Zahriyeh normally didn't work at night. She was in complete shock.
"He was just a nice person," said Shavon Washington. "It's crazy."
Homicide detectives are still investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the Cleveland Police Department.
