Man, 45, struck and killed while standing outside his SUV

LEXINGTON, Township — A man was killed on Saturday evening after a car struck his SUV, which then hit him, the Stark County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

It happened on Freshley Avenue N.E.

Officials said a 53-year-old man was driving northbound in a Pontiac Firebird, when he struck a Chevrolet Equinox on the back passenger side.

The driver of the Equinox, a 45-year-old man, was outside his vehicle at the time.  He was hit in the collision.

Lexington Township firefighters transported the man to Alliance Hospital, where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.  Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to call (330) 430-3800.
