CLEVELAND, Ohio -- For folks that live in California, rolling waves on Lake Erie may seem like the smallest fish in the sea compared to the Big Kahunas on the Pacific Ocean.
But for those of us who live in northeast Ohio, the eight-foot whitecaps we saw on Sunday were spectacular, and the size of them were nothing to sneeze at.
We wanted to show you just how powerful Lake Erie can be, especially while a Wind Advisory was in effect for Cuyahoga County, so we started streaming our roof cam on Facebook and on FOX8.com.
Winds out of the northwest were kicking up gusts as much as 50 mph along the shoreline.
The result? Impressively high waves crashing against the break walls, then splashing onto Interstate 90 eastbound.
Our Facebook post reached more than 9,600,000 people, garnering over 33,000 reactions, and generating over 14, 300 comments. More than 6,130 shared our post.
What's more, is how many people watched from all over: from Alberta, Canada, to Brazil, to states from all over the USA, as many as 15,000 were watching at one point.
From near and far, thank you for watching!
