University of Akron student pleads not guilty to stabbing friend to death

First snow battles it out with last of the fall leaves throughout northeast Ohio

CHARDON, OH - The push and pull between fall and winter was on full display across Northeast Ohio as fall leaves fight to outlast the fresh snow fall.

Beachwood received a dusting of snow but across the Cleveland area there was a different view outside every window. Portions of the Cleveland area were under a wind advisory for several hours Sunday.

In Chardon, some people were forced to break out the shovel for the first time this season. Outside a store called The Nest in Chardon Square, Donna McAllen told Fox 8 she is hoping the snow quickly melts.

"I just came out for a minute just to clear it out so everyone's safe," said McAllen.

She says the whipping winds and snow rarely scare off customers. Others are already counting down the days until more snow falls.

"I just like to sled and build forts in it," said Carmela Rosace, 10, of Chardon.

Carmela is hoping for enough snow to build a snowman before the holidays, while her big sister is already looking forward to spring.

"I'm freezing, I'm just not a winter person," said Lucia Rosace.

So what is the best part of winter?

"That it goes away," said McAllen.

With time it will, as the last of the fall flowers in Chardon try to hold out as winter inches closer.
