If you’ve heard Kelly Clarkson‘s latest song on the radio, you know the vocals are flawless.
But the singer says recording “It’s Quiet Uptown” from the upcoming “The Hamilton Mixtape” was “one of the hardest things” she’s ever done in her life.
Clarkson told Ryan Seacrest, “I was pregnant with my little boy…[and] if you’ve never seen the musical, it’s about your son dying.”
She added, “It was so hard to record, but it’s such a beautiful song and such a powerful thing to be a part of. It’s such a movement in Broadway.”
Clarkson’s version of “It’s Quiet Uptown” is one of a handful of songs that has been released for those who pre-ordered “The Hamilton Mixtape” ahead of the December 2nd release. The album features songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit musical recorded by artists like Sia, The Roots, Usher, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys, John Legends and others.
Reaction to Clarkson’s recording has been overwhelmingly positive.
