WAKEMAN, Ohio — Wakeman police say concerned citizens likely saved  lives after they got involved when they saw a driver going the wrong way.

Police said on Wednesday, they were called to Mickey Mart for a vehicle that had been boxed in on Hyde Street.

The driver had just left the Western Reserve School and was heading east in the westbound lane on State Route 20.

When police arrived, the vehicle was in the eastbound lane facing eastbound traffic.

Police eventually arrested the female driver on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

When officers approached the woman, they said she appeared to be confused and under the influence.

Wakeman’s police chief said, “I don’t normally recommend citizens getting involved like this, but in this case, they more than likely saved some lives, so I thank them for what they did.”
