CLEVELAND-- A Cleveland police officer has been ticketed for running a red light while on duty in a patrol car and he is fighting it, the FOX 8 I-Team learned.

An RTA security camera captured the incident at East 9th Street and Euclid Avenue in August and the I-Team obtained the video. It shows the police car T-boned by a civilian’s car. The traffic light for the officer had been red for at least 40 seconds.

The cruiser also did not have on its lights or sirens.

Officer Bob Cummings is facing a citation and he could get fined up to $150. Court records show he has asked for a trial and it has been set for next week.

We reached out to the other driver earlier. His attorney said he was considering a civil lawsuit.

No one was seriously hurt.
