Pregnant woman shot in head on Cleveland’s east side

CLEVELAND – A 31-week pregnant woman is hospitalized after being  shot in the head Tuesday evening.

A witnesses told Cleveland police that he noticed 23-year-old Shavonte Chester talking with a man on East 101st Street shortly after 8 p.m. The witness then said he heard a “pop” and when he looked over, saw her falling as the man ran away.

Chester was taken to University Hospitals. Details on her condition have not been released.

Police have identified the man as the suspect in this case: 26-year-old Trevell Bey.  He was last seen running north on East 101st and did not appear to be injured.

Detectives are continuing to investigate this shooting.
