VERMILION TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- The Erie County Sheriff's Office is investigating the murder of a 58-year-old man in Vermilion Township; a suspect has been charged in his death.

Investigators say they were called to the home of 22-year-old Carl Seckt around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, in the Mitiwanga Beach subdivision on Middle Avenue.  They went there to arrest Seckt on outstanding warrants, relating to property crimes against 58-year-old David Quint, a long-time acquaintance of Seckt.

Family members of Seckt advised police that he had been at Quint's home immediately prior to his arrest, and requested that officers check on Quint's welfare.

Officers responded to Quint's Avenue A home and found him dead inside.  Evidence at the scene indicated that he was a homicide victim, police said.

According to investigators, Seckt admitted to killing Quint and is charged with murder.  Seckt will remain in Erie County Jail until his arraignment in Vermilion Municipal Court.

Agents of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations assisted at the crime scene.  An autopsy is underway at the Lucas County Coroner's Office in Toledo.
