SHEFFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH – An Elyria man died Saturday after his motorcycle collided with a car on North Ridge Road in Sheffield Township. The driver of the car fled the scene, but was located later.

23-year-old Tyler Marrero was driving his motorcycle west on the road at 3:30 p.m. when it collided with a car. The motorcycle overturned and Marrero was thrown from the bike. He was taken to University Hospital Elyria Medical Center, but passed away from his injuries a short time later. He was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the car left the scene of the accident but was found at home a short time later. According to the Ohio State Patrol, he is cooperating with their investigation.

The OSP says that alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident and that they will be referring the case to the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office for potential charges. So far, none have been  filed.
