PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH –  The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that turned fatal 10 days after the initial accident.

On October 26, a pick-up truck was stopped on State Route 58 as the driver waited to make a left-hand turn into a private driveway. A car coming up from behind the truck rear ended it.

The driver of the truck, Wayne W. Mahnke, 66, of Wellington, was seriously injured in the crash. He was initially taken to Mercy Allen Hospital and then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where he died on November 5 from those injuries.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Both men were wearing their safety belts and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a part in the accident.
