Troopers find boxes of furs worth $2 million during traffic stop

WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers stumbled upon a pricey but illegal find during a traffic stop in Wood County.

It happened at just after 3 p.m. on Oct. 26.

Troopers stopped a 2016 Chevrolet Express van with a New York registration for speeding in a construction zone on Interstate 80 westbound.

Troopers saw large boxes located in the cargo area in plain view.

Troopers were given consent to view the items . They found 11 boxes containing 452 furs worth nearly $2 million.

U.S. Customs confirmed that the furs were illegally imported.
