Local police department warns of ‘suspicious’ candy

WAKEMAN, Ohio — The Wakeman Police Department has issued a warning about some candy that was passed out during the city’s trick-or-treat Sunday evening.

In a post on its Facebook page, the department said, “some candy passed out in town today is very suspicious.”

They warned anyone who collected Lemonheads to carefully inspect them.

The department said there were several instances of the packages being opened and the candy looking distorted.

Several people responded to the post by saying it’s normal for the candy to have opened wrappers and to be melted or distorted.

Others said they appreciated the warning and said it is better to be safe than sorry.

Police urged everyone to check all candy before letting children eat it.
