MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio-- Tear drops fell like rain Friday night as family and friends of 15-year-old Sunny Patel gathered to remember someone who always knew how to make people smile.
"He always made you laugh. What he's known for is telling jokes that didn't make sense, but everyone laughed anyways," said Swetaa Patel, cousin.
Sunny was killed during a robbery and shooting at the Mr. Hero in Cleveland Heights a week ago. The man accused of murdering him was indicted Friday.
"He was just a 15-year-old kid. I hope that guy rots in jail forever," said Parth Patel, brother.
Sunny was a sophomore at Mayfield High School. He's described as caring, hardworking and loved the Cavs.
Fellow classmates shared their favorite Sunny stories and then walked together to the high school football game.
"Just to show our unity, walk up there together as one big family," Parth said.
Sunny's family said the community support has been overwhelming. However, they are giving back the donated money from the GoFundMe account to the community because that's what Sunny would have wanted.
"We want to put it back into the community that have been so supportive to us. The school system, the police department, the hospitals," said Meera Patel, cousin.
