CLEVELAND, Ohio– What a better way to say thank you to rookie pitcher Ryan Merritt than through a wedding gift?

According to CBS Sports, Indians fans are buying gifts for Merritt and his bride-to-be off his wedding registry.  Someone discovered the registry during Game 5 of the ALCS and started clearing items off the registry.

One fan noted that when he checked out the online registry earlier, almost nothing was fulfilled; that quickly changed. People were purchasing everything from hand towels to wine glasses to say thanks to the pitcher.

Merritt, 24, had three strikeouts and allowed two hits in four innings in Game 5. After the Indians advanced to the World Series, Wednesday night, Merritt told FOX 8’s John Telich: “It’s crazy what can happen, you know? Kind of like fate, you know? It’s just kind of meant to be.”

Game 1 of the World Series is Tuesday in Cleveland. Catch ALL of the World Series on FOX 8. Much more on your Cleveland Indians.
