PORT CLINTON, Ohio– A local animal hospital is asking for help as it cares for a cat that was injured in a house explosion last week.

Harborview Animal Hospital in Port Clinton posted photos on its Facebook page of the cat named Taffy.

Taffy was brought to them shortly after the explosion, which leveled a home and damaged several others. Two people survived and were taken to the hospital.

The hospital said Taffy suffered charring, burns and smoke inhalation from the fire.  The cat is in stable condition, but is said to have a long road to recovery.

A fund has been started for Taffy thanks to the staff at the Peninsula Medical Center in Marblehead, who made the first donation.

The Harborview Animal Hospital said donations can be made in person, by mail or over the phone during their business hours. 100% of the donations will go towards Taffy’s care.

The address of the animal hospital is:
2360 East Harbor Road, Port Clinton OH 43452
