Highway Patrol: Woman, 35, killed in apparent DUI crash

LENOX TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A woman was killed early Sunday in a single-car crash in Ashtabula County.

It happened just before 2 a.m.  on State Route 307, near milepost 16.

According to the Ashtabula Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Margaret Saunders, of Dorset, Ohio, was traveling east when her Chevrolet Suburban missed a curve, then went off the roadway.

The SUV struck a culvert, before overturning.  Saunders was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected, highway patrol said.

Investigators say alcohol and drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
