Fox Recipe Box: Lee Ann’s Slow Cooker Applesauce

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Country chef Lee Ann Miller always has something yummy cooking in her kitchen and today she shows us how to use fresh apples and a slow cooker to make delicous homemade applesauce.

Crockpot Applesauce

3-1/2 lbs. apples (Jonagold, Jonathon or Golden Delicious)
1 Tablespoon white sugar
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
½ teaspoon fresh lemon juice
pinch of salt
1 cup fresh apple cider or water

Core, peel and slice 3-1/2 lbs. (approximately 7-10) apples. Place in crockpot on low setting. Sprinkle with sugars, lemon juice and salt. Pour over apple cider OR water. Leave in crockpot 7-8 hours. On high setting 3-4 hours. If you prefer a sweeter applesauce just add 1 more Tablespoon of each sugar! Enjoy!
