NORTH CHARLESTON, South Carolina — As if having to evacuate their town due to Hurricane Matthew wasn’t bad enough, a family’s home surveillance video shows someone then looting their home.

ABC News 4 reports the Jones family evacuated on Thursday. They had two small children, one of whom has a heart defect, and didn’t want to run the risk of something happening.

After they’d left, their security company notified them because of activity in their home.

“She was only in the house a couple of minutes, but hopefully police will be able to find her,” said Angela Jones.

The woman appears to have carried out clothes and blankets.

“It was very upsetting. At first I called my mom to make sure she didn’t send anyone inside our home to do anything,” Jones said.
