Ohio school district cancels class after clown assault, threat

HAMILTON CO., Ohio — A school district in Hamilton County is closed today after a woman was assaulted by someone who looked like a clown.

The suspect is still on the loose and in a Facebook post, the Reading Community City Schools district said the suspect also made a threat against the district’s students, which prompted the closure.

The post states:

“We were especially concerned with the number of students who walk to school in the early morning hours and made the decision to close school. The district is working closely with the Reading Police on this matter. We will make a decision about homecoming activities later in the day as we know more.”

There has been a rash of “clown sightings” across the country and right here in Ohio in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, Portsmouth police received a report of a person dressed as a clown in their town. The person was holding an ax and staring at people as they passed by.

There have been a number of clown sightings in North Carolina and South Carolina this year as well.

In Forsyth County, North Carolina, a woman reported that a clown wielding a machete tried to lure her into the woods.
