Pizza place, community rallies to support family of Euclid High School football player

EUCLID, Ohio-- At the Marco's Pizza on Lakeshore Boulevard in Euclid, the line was out the door.

The community came out in droves on Thursday to support the family of Euclid football player, 17-year-old Andre Jackson.

"My mom told me to come get Marco's. I'm sure they changed dinner plans for today," said Cora Huey, of Euclid.

"My husband and I just came for dinner to support the Jacksons," said Sue Moore, of Euclid.

Jackson suffered a blow to the abdomen during Friday night's game and later died at the hospital Sunday.

The money raised Thursday will help cover expenses for Jackson's funeral, which will be held Oct. 7 and 8.

"All of our proceeds today, 15 percent of the bottom of the line will go straight to the family," said Dave Wright, general manager of Marco's.

Even the Euclid City School District changed their menu Thursday to help.

"They took away their own school lunch today and ordered Marco's pizza so they could have 15 percent go to the family," Wright said.

Inside the high school, goodbye notes, momentos and balloons cover Jackson's locker.

He will be remembered with a moment of silence and balloon release before Friday's game.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for the Jackson family.
