Portage County robbery suspect taken into custody

RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio–  The Portage County Sheriff’s Office has taken a suspect into custody thanks to help provided by the public.

Portage County Sheriff David Doak had asked for assistance in locating the robbery suspect.

Deputies responded to a Ravenna Township home at around 3:30 Tuesday morning for a report of an armed robbery that had just happened at that location.

During the investigation, Elijah Sanders, 23, was identified as the suspect in the incident.

Authorities learned that Sanders had come to the home as a guest.   Sanders is accused of pulling out a gun and robbing three people who were also at the home. He ran off. No one was injured.

Information was obtained about a possible location of Sanders. He was found and taken into custody without incident.

Sanders is currently being held at the Portage County Jail under no bond.

He’s been charged with three counts of aggravated robbery; all of the counts are first-degree felonies.
