7-year-old boy killed in four-car crash

NORTHFIELD CENTER, Ohio — A seven-year-old boy was killed in a four-car crash in Northfield Center Township Saturday afternoon.

According to a release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at just before 1 p.m. on the exit ramp from state Route 8 north to Interstate 271 north in Northfield Center Township.

A 2014 Honda Accord driven by a 34-year-old female failed to keep assured clear distance and hit a 2014 Honda Odyssey driven by a 49-year-old female.

Two seven-year-old male passengers in the Honda Accord sustained serious injuries and were taken to Akron Children’s Hospital. One of the boys died from his injuries.┬áThe second child is in stable condition.

Neither boys were wearing a seat belt.

The road was partially closed for around four hours. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
