CLEVELAND – So the Cleveland Indians didn’t clinch a title with a win against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.
But the team’s magic number dropped down to 1, thanks to a Detroit Tigers loss to the Kansas City Royals. And with that loss, the Indians have at least clinched a share of the American League Central crown. But just one win before the end of the regular season means that the team will be the AL Central Champs for the first time since 2007!
It goes without saying that the upcoming series in Detroit at Comerica Park, starting Monday night, is a big one.
For the record, at Progressive Field this season, the Indians went 50-27 and had 11 walk-off wins. Those 50 games mark the club’s 2nd-highest home win total in the Progressive Field era (54-18 at home in 1995).
