No charges in case of baby left alone in restaurant booth

PERKINS TOWNSHIP, Ohio-- The mother of a baby left alone in a booth at a Perkins Township restaurant will not face any charges.

A man recorded video of a couple leaving the child alone at a Chinese buffet while they filled their plates in August. The clip generated millions of views on Facebook and lead to an investigation by the Perkins Township Police Department.

"In conferencing with the Prosecutor, we both agreed that it would be difficult to prove that the child was in danger by what the video showed," Police Chief Ken Klamar said in reports.

The customer who recorded the video said the infant was alone for more than four minutes. But the mom told police in a sworn statement her child was never out of sight and felt the man recording was "purposely trying not to get us in the video until we sat down."

He never filed a statement with the police department.
