Man indicted on 16 counts for deadly shooting after Solon crash

SOLON, Ohio-- The man accused of shooting and killing a woman after a crash in Solon was indicted on 16 counts on Friday.

Matthew Desha, 29, of North Ridgeville, faces charges of aggravated murder and murder, as well as multiple counts each of attempted aggravated murder, felonious assault and discharge of a firearm near prohibited premises. The North Ridgeville man is being held on $1 million bond.

Deborah Pearl was driving on Richmond Road in Solon on Aug. 27 when Desha ran a red light and hit her car, police said. Desha's vehicle rolled several times and when he got out, he was armed with a rifle.

According to police, Desha shot the 53-year-old Twinsburg woman. She was taken to an area hospital, where she passed away.

Pearl, a mother of three, worked at Southeast Harley-Davidson in Bedford Heights. She's remembered as a spiritual woman whose smile could light up a room.
