NORTH READING, Massachusetts– She waited more than 80 years for this moment.
Clare Picciuto, of North Reading, Massachusetts, was surprised with a cap, gown and honorary high school diploma for her 100th birthday.
When it came time for her to go to high school, the Great Depression hit, so she had to leave school to work to help her family, WCVB reports.
Picciuto’s daughter said she was able to fulfill her mom’s wish after talking to local school officials.
The mom and grandmother said, “it feels good,” to have her diploma after all of these years.
