PHOENIX, Arizona– A soldier surprised his mom at work and family members recorded the beautiful moment.
Larry Sterns, who posted the video on YouTube, said he told his mom he wasn’t coming home until the end of July. But, he came home a month early to surprise her.
According to ABC News, Larry’s mom, Denise Sterns, was doing janitorial work at Central Station in Phoenix, when she noticed something out of the corner of her eye.
She realized right away that it was her son, who serves in the 101st Airborne Division of the Army at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
“I saw the Airborne patch and thought maybe I should say something, to thank him for his service. Then I saw him starting to laugh, in his profile, and realized it was Larry,” Denise told ABC News.
In the video, you can see Denise leap into her son’s arms and wrap her legs around him– in a moment of pure joy.
Denise last saw her son in January. She told ABC News saying goodbye was the hardest thing she’s ever done. “Raising a child is not the hardest part, saying goodbye is the hardest part.”
