CLEVELAND - Crop Rocks and Crop Sticks, both located in the East Bank of The Flats, will close next month.

A manager confirms to Fox 8's Kevin Freeman that Crop is pulling out of The Flats altogether, effective Sept 11.

He says things didn't work for them conceptually.  He says they will now focus all their efforts on Crop Bistro and an official statement will come out in the coming days.

They released the following statement about the closing:

We have made the difficult business decision to suspend operations at our Flats East Bank locations of Crop Rocks and Crop Sticks effective this September.

An awesome amount of blood, sweat and tears went into the creation of these two fantastic concepts, however the lack of visibility and regular customer activity at these locations made these restaurants unsustainable.  We are working with our staff, whose hard work and dedication is appreciated as we work through this time of refocus.

While we are heartbroken about the closures that are occurring, we are moving forward and concentrating all of our focus and commitment to our flag ship Crop Bistro in Ohio City that continues to be a successful and unique venue.

We look forward to the renewed energy that is being brought about by new Executive Chef, Sean Joyce and the exciting changes that are to come.  Chef Joyce will be bringing new fresh menu items that will refocus on the farm to table concept that has been the cornerstone of Crop in conjunction with Chef Schimoler's new recipe development while on sabbatical in Italy.

We are looking forward to the next generation of Crop Bistro's future.
