CLEVELAND, Ohio–The Indians newest player Andrew Miller talked at a press conference on Monday, a day after Cleveland added him to their bullpen.

Miller said initially he was shocked, then ultimately excited when he heard about the trade. He said he’s “excited to play for a team with a city behind them. People are excited to watch important baseball games.”

The Indians acquired the lefty from the New York Yankees for four minor leaguers. Miller is 6-1 with a 1.39 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 44 appearances this season, compiling a 0.772 WHIP (wip) on 28 hits and seven walks in 45 1/3 innings.

But Cleveland missed out on getting Milwaukee catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who nixed a trade that would have put him on a contender.

Outfielders Nathan Lukes and RHP Jhonleider Salinas go to the Rays.
