AKRON, OHIO – Saturday, July 23rd was a hot and steamy day in Akron, Ohio.

And what solves “hot and steamy” better than a visit from the ice cream truck?

Maybe a free visit from the ice cream truck?

The Akron Police Department Patrol Division decided that the only way to beat the heat Saturday was to buy ice cream for over 140 children in Akron’s Rosemary Square Neighborhood.

They arranged for the Triple D Ice Cream Company to drive out to the neighborhood and then started alerting the children to where the truck was.  The police also had bottled water and bags of potato chips to pass out.

A yummy time was had by all.

Cool idea, APD. Very, very cool!
