CLEVELAND -The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association voted to award Mike Napoli the Cleveland Indians 2016 Heart and Hustle winner.

The award is given to honor active players with a passion for the game and who best embody the values, spirit and traditions of the game.

It is the only award voted on by former players.

“Mike is always focused on all aspects of the game,” said Indians hitting coach Ty Van Burkleo. “He looks to take the extra base or advance on a ball in the dirt. He is a winning player.”

A player is chosen from each MLB team and then the overall winner is chosen by fans, alumni and active players later on in the season.

The final winner will be announced at a charity event on November 17.
