CLEVELAND-- The Lake Erie Monsters celebrated their first title in franchise history with a party in downtown Cleveland Tuesday evening.
The Monsters won the Calder Cup by completing a sweep of the Hersey Bears on Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd. The team scored with just 1.9 seconds left in overtime to win 1-0.
"It's just an amazing feeling winning the championship," said winger Oliver Bjorkstrand.
Players and coaches showed off the Calder Cup, while thousands of fans enjoyed music, games, and food trucks.
The celebration was at Gateway Plaza, which is between Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field.
