It’s one of the things about Muhammad Ali most people probably don’t know. He once starred in a Broadway musical.

According to Indiewire.com, Ali starred in a musical titled “Buck White” while he was barred from boxing back in 1969.

He performed a song from the musical on the Ed Sullivan Show.

The musical, which was one of the first Broadway productions by a black man, centered on a militant black lecturer who addresses a meeting organized by a black political group.

Despite Ali’s star power, the play was a flop. It ran for just seven performances, Indiewire reported.
