CONROE, TX — Alexandria Vera, a former English teacher in Texas, turned herself in to authorities on Wednesday. She’s accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student.

According to KTRK, the 24-year-old was charged with continuous sexual abuse and bailed herself out of jail shortly after turning herself in.

Officials say Vera met the 13-year-old boy during summer school last year. He was in her 8th grade English class.

A sexual relationship began shortly after they met.

Supposedly, the boy’s family is accepting of the relationship and they invite Vera to family events.

Court documents also show that Vera allegedly became pregnant with the boy’s child in January, and the boy’s family was accepting. But after an unexpected Child Services visit to the school where Vera and the boy were questioned, Vera got nervous and ended the pregnancy.

The school released the following statement:

“Aldine ISD has been made aware that charges have been filed against a former Stovall Middle School teacher involved in inappropriate behavior with a male student. When the allegation was made in April, the teacher was immediately removed from the school and placed on administrative leave. Aldine ISD Police investigated the incident and turned their findings over to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. The safety and security of Aldine ISD’s students and staff remains a priority of the school district.”
