GREEN, Ohio - The seventh and eighth graders at Green Middle School in Summit County pride themselves on being 'Bulldog Strong.'

They are strong in academics and strong in character.

Green Middle has repeatedly been recognized as an excellent school. "Every student we have here in this building is important and that's the way our staff looks at it, that's the way the community looks at it. And, we want to make sure that they are provided with the best education they can get," Principal Jeff Wells said.

These students challenge themselves in the classroom -- like taking a foreign language or algebra. "I have always liked math. So when my mom told me that I could be in a high school class in 8th grade, I thought that was a really cool opportunity,” eighth grader Jana Maximovich said.

Some students made buoys using a 3-D printer in STEM class. Then, they used them to record weather conditions.

“We took two scientific inventions or tools and we put them onto our buoys -- like an anemometer, barometer, thermometer, rain gauge. And, we tested our wetlands that we have -- testing water temperature, air pressure. The thing about this class is it is really fun and it really helps your team working skills,” seventh grader Lincoln Gladwell explained.

There is an award winning concert band at Green Middle School. The band students often participate in ensemble contests -- with superior results.

"Each week we work on the music for the upcoming concert. So, we either go over that or we develop a new skill set. Some days we will even go into individual practice rooms and practice on our individual sections," seventh grader Xavier Adekunle added.

ROX Girls, or Ruling Our Experience, teaches young women to be empowered, independent and strong.

The BRAVE Boys, which stands for Boys Representing Achievement and Values Every day, fund raise for a cause that is important to them.

"This one is for cancer. We are donating it to Barberton Hospital-- the cancer center there. I lost my mom to cancer. And, we're doing a dunk tank to raise money for Barberton Hospital and what they've done for all the people with cancer," eighth grader Dylan Pipernea said.

Every child, every chance, every day: that is the working motto at Green Middle School -- this week’s Fox 8 Cool School.
