Man sentenced to life in prison for triple murder in Barberton

AKRON – A judge sentenced Eric Hendon on Wednesday, he was given life in prison with no chance at parole.

Last month, a jury recommended that Eric Hendon be sentenced to life without parole for a triple murder that happened in Barberton more than two years ago.

“Eric Hendon executed three people, and nearly killed a fourth. This was one of the most horrific cases we have ever prosecuted and he deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison,” said Prosecutor Walsh. “I am relieved to know Eric Hendon will no longer be able to harm any other innocent people.”

Barberton triple murderAccording to records, Hendon and his brother broke into John Kohler’s house on New Year’s Eve 2013. The Hendons killed Kohler and his kids, 18-year-old Ashley Carpenter and 14-year-old David Kohler Carpenter.

Kohler’s girlfriend was also shot, but she survived.

Hendon was found guilty of the murders in early April.

Hendon was charged with aggravated murder, attempted murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and having a weapon under disability.

His brother, Michael Hendon was convicted in the murders late last year and received three life sentences to be served consecutively without the possibility of parole.
