CLEVELAND - The FOX 8 I TEAM has obtained more exclusive police body camera video, and this time it takes you inside the investigation of a man busted for robbing women.

Carlos Alicea was arrested by Cleveland Police last summer, but the video was just released by Cleveland City Hall to the I TEAM from our request last year.

The video shows Alicea getting arrested on the near west side just after citizens chased him and roughed him up for stealing a woman’s purse. Alicea gives vague answers when asked why he was being chased. And he asks an officer why he’s being arrested.

Police determined Alicea was also wanted for robbing an 87-year-old woman and leaving her in the hospital with broken bones.

You see a detective offer Alicea a chance to make a statement telling him, “Honesty can go a long way.” But the suspect stays silent.

Meantime, a victim describes what happened to her.

In the end, records show Alicea plead guilty in connection to both attacks. A judge sent him to prison for 9 ½ years. He already had a felony record dating back more than a decade.

The video also offers a glimpse into why he possibly did it. In jail, he told a guard he uses heroin.

Cleveland has been slow to release police body camera videos blaming legal constraints and technical issues. Last week we showed you video we had requested 14 months earlier.
