CLEVELAND-- The City of Cleveland is asking for more bids on items needed to prepare for the Republican National Convention.

Items they are looking for include:

  • Purchase of light and medium-duty trucks and vans and related equipment
  • Purchase of UTVs (Utility Task Vehicle) and related equipment
  • Ballistic Carrier System (SOFT)
  • UTV patient transport vehicle

Cleveland City Hall confirms to I-Team reporter Ed Gallek that the bulletproof vests are for the firefighters.

Last year, the FOX 8 I-Team broke the story that the Cleveland firefighters were requesting to receive the vests.

Earlier this month, the City announced other items it needed to purchase, including: breast plates, bridles, reins, flexible handcuffs, horse supplies like hay and shavings, night vision mount, parking meter bags, rain poncho and safety equipment.

The RNC comes to Cleveland July 18-July 21 with many of the main events taking place at Quicken Loans Arena.
