CLEVELAND – Get ready movie fans, it was just announced that portions of the newest Fast and Furious movie will be filmed here in Cleveland.

According to Ivan Schwarz, the President of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, ‘Fast 8’ will be coming to Cleveland.

“We’re very glad that ‘Fast 8’ is hiring so many local people, and contributing to our economy in a very impactful way,” Schwarz said. “As we’ve said from the beginning, building a media industry isn’t just about bringing jobs for media professionals, but about impacting local hotels and other businesses economically.”

Captain America: Winter Soldier‘ filmed in Cleveland nearly 3 years ago, and Schwarz said many people from that production team will be working on ‘Fast 8’ as well.

“They had such a great experience working here that they looked at us again for ‘Fast 8.’  It’s this kind of repeat business, along with a robust tax incentive, a strong local workforce and community buy-in, that will ensure Cleveland’s emerging role as a top production destination,” Schwarz said.

Filming is set to begin in May and is expected to create nearly 380 jobs.
