From 2 to 8 p.m. on May 7, the shelter will have its first Derby Day Fundraiser. It will be held at Mad Mike’s Bar and Grill in Garfield Heights. Tickets will be $15 and can be purchased at the shelter or at Mad Mike’s. Tickets include an all you can eat buffet, one drink ticket and one raffle ticket. They’ll watch the Kentucky Derby, and there will be raffle baskets and a 50/50 raffle.

Some of the shelter’s dogs will also be at the Cleveland Veg Fest on May 7 at the Cleveland Convention Center. They’ll be there supporting healthy living.

Earlier this month, the shelter had a blast at the Lake Erie Monsters’ Pucks and Paws game, where $1,200 was donated back to the shelter.

The shelter has also started microchipping its adoptables. So each $95 adoption fee will now not only include the license, first set of vaccinations and a spay or neuter, but also a microchip.

The shelter is located at 9500 Sweet Valley Drive in Valley View.
