Mentor-On-The-Lake– A Pennsylvania woman has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated after nearly driving her car into Lake Erie Sunday.

Mentor-On-The-Lake dispatch said they received a 911 call that a woman had “just driven her car into the lake” at Mentor Beach Park. When officers arrived, they encountered a confused resident of Uniontown, Pennsylvania who was out of her car, walking around the park.

Officers said the woman drove through the parking lot, crashed through a 4×4 wooden post and continued north. Her vehicle came to a stop on a pile of rocks just stopping short of her car going into Lake Erie.

The 43-year-old woman was transported to Lake West Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was charged with OVI.
